The Social Security System (SSS) will implement a three-year pension increase beginning September 2025, as part of a landmark Pension Reform Program approved by the Social Security Commission (SSC) under Resolution No. 340-s.2025 dated July 11, 2025. This move answers the long-standing demand for higher pensions while maintaining fund sustainability, guided by Republic Act No. 11199.
Each year from 2025 to 2027, pensioners will receive:
- 10% increase annually for retirement and disability pensioners
- 5% increase annually for death or survivor pensioners
By 2027, this will result in a total increase of 33% for retirement/disability pensioners and 16% for survivor pensioners.
Over 3.8 million pensioners will benefit from this reform, with a projected ₱92.8 billion boost to the economy over three years. Importantly, this hike does not require a contribution increase. While the fund life may shorten slightly (from 2053 to 2049), SSS commits to restoring its longevity through expanded coverage and better collection efficiency.
This reform, initiated under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, marks a historic and sustainable step toward uplifting Filipino retirees and enhancing social protection.
