In 2019, the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act was signed into law with the objective of providing immediate eligibility for health benefits to every Filipino. Under the UHC Act, PhilHealth contributions are to increase yearly, starting in 2020, when they were due to rise 3%, followed by 3.5% in 2021, 4% in 2022, 4.5% in 2023, until the increases hit 5% in 2024-2025.
