Message re 21st Anniversary of PCCI

Two decades and a year is PCCI’s age today. At what stage in the corporate life cycle PCCI is now?

Theoretically, the stages in corporate life cycle according to Ichaz Adizes start with an affair/courtship and eventually lead to infancy, go-go, adolescence, but at prime as it reaches the peak, the fall starts towards aristocracy, recrimination, bureaucracy and eventually death.

Adizes believes that At each new stage of development an organization is faced with a unique set of challenges. How well or poorly management addresses these challenges, and leads a healthy transition from one stage to the next, has a significant impact on the success or failure of their organization.

The framework finds its application in many businesses/corporations. Some remained small and expired along the way. Some survived, became big, and reached the peak, aiming to stay there.

Where is PCCI at 21 in the scheme of things? Will PCCI eventually die?

While corporate entities are like living organisms, they are not the same. Juridical entities can live forever. The Securities & Exchange Commission amended the Corporation Code allowing perpetual existence of juridical entities.

How can PCCI “defy” the theory of corporate lifecycle?

The answer lies in the people behind it. It need not wait to reach its prime then, start falling. It can create another wave to super-impose on the first wave even before it reaches prime. By doing so, a new and level-upped wave emerges. As to how many more waves may be created will be the call again of the succession and professionals behind it.

For each stage and each wave, there are learnings to be kept and mistakes to be avoided.

Caring for its people like family, continuing professional education, professionalism, adopting technological tools to facilitate rendition of services, and upholding integrity will be PCCI’s blended anchor. Keep always in your minds and hearts, sensitivity for each other, sensitivity to clients’ changing needs and compliance to rules and regulations. You need not get many clients just aim for choice & quality clients for you deserve them and they are for keeps.

At your 21st anniversary, hopefully the only anniversary in the Covid 19 era, I wish PCCI and the people behind it many waves of life cycles preventing falling as it continues levelling up and be the service provider of choice.

May the good Lord be with all of you in the next many decades as He has been with you all these years.
